Wedding invitations: what to know

This section has main wedding invitations and the cards that go with them, such as save the dates, RSVP cards, details cards and thank-you cards. There are also invites for the functions before the wedding, like the engagement, mehendi, haldi, sangeet or rehearsal dinner.

Some designs are a single card. Others are a set, with every piece in the same style. The product page shows exactly what's inside.

Printed, digital or video

A printed card suits elders and guests you'll meet in person. A digital invite is an image or PDF you send on WhatsApp or by email. A video invite is a short clip with music and moving text, made to be watched on a phone. Many families use two kinds: printed cards for close relatives and a digital one for everyone else.

How editing works

Each product page names the app you need to edit the design and lists what you can change. When you're done, save it as a file to print or share.

What to write on a wedding invitation

• The couple's names, and the names of the family hosting
• The date, day and time of each function
• The venue name and full address, with a map link on digital invites
• How to RSVP, to whom, and by what date
• Anything guests should know, such as a dress code

If there are many functions, give each one its own card. A short card is easier to read on a phone than one long page.

When to send them

These are common timings, not rules. Save the dates usually go out 6 to 8 months before the wedding, or earlier for a destination wedding. Main invitations go out 6 to 8 weeks before. Ask for replies 3 to 4 weeks before the day, so you have time to give final numbers to the caterer.

Before you print

Print one test copy at home and check the spelling of every name. The product page gives the card size. Ask your print shop for thick card, and show them the test copy so the colors match.
